Any format your browser can open, which normally includes PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG and BMP. Support for formats such as AVIF depends on the browser.
Why is the Base64 version larger than the file?
Base64 turns every 3 bytes into 4 text characters, so the output is about 33% larger. That is the cost of making binary data safe to put in text.
Is it safe to open links from a QR code?
Only open links you expect. The tool shows the decoded text first so you can check it before choosing to open a link.
Why does my QR code not scan?
Use a sharp, well lit image with the whole code and a clear border in view. Very small, blurry or heavily damaged codes may not be readable.
